ADaPT FESTIVAL SERIES: 2011-2013
2011 Project Website - winner of Indy Award for Artistic Direction
In 2011 we launched our first international festival, the SB-ADaPT Festival. As we morphed into ArtBark International this continued on in 2012 in collaboration with RAW MATTERS in Vienna, Austria, and in 2013 and as a tri-city festival in Brooklyn, NY; Santa Barbara, CA; and Pasadena, CA. Our organization, in interest of promoting growth in the community, stepped aside from festival production when another dance company stepped forwards expressing a desire to produce festivals in Santa Barbara (at this time we did not feel there was space enough in our small town for two dance festivals)
As a part of our 3 Cities: 3 Choreographers project they performed with collaborators Kerstin Stuart and Louis Cornejo at Diavolo Theater in Los Angeles, Shall we Dance in Pacific Grove, Project 418 in Santa Cruz, & Center Stage Theater in Santa Barbara. The project received great press including being on the cover of LA Yoga Magazine. This event planted the seed for the ADaPT Festival Series.
In 2008 SonneBlauma became an international company traveling to Istanbul to perform at the AFL Kültür Merkezi with the Ziggurat Dance Company and to give a lecture demonstration and conduct a week long workshop at Çatı.
