Istanbul

 
 




Sinan Temizalp has graciously invited SonneBlauma to come to Istanbul to teach and perform. We leave September 23rd. The event is fast turning into Sinan’s first festival and we are excited about the prospects of sharing the space with companies from Italy. Thank you Sinan for affording us the opportunity to grow from a national dance company into an international dance company. Wohooo – go team! Bring on those Turkish Delight yum yums with a cup of Java savored and sipped on the steps of the Hagia Sophie or at a café in Beyoglu.

  
 

OUR ROSE:
Guest Artist Erika Kloumann

 
 
 
 


As we bid a poignant adieu to guest artist Gwenna Devries we pass the guest artist rose to world class dancer Erika Kloumann of Santa Barbara Dance Theatre. Erika will be performing one of SonneBlauma’s signature works, “Crystal Rivers”, for our 3 Cities: 3 Choreographers project. Erika has worked 9 seasons with Santa Barbara Dance Theatre. She has also worked with Robin Biso/The California Coastal Project performing in film, stage, and site-specific works. Erika has choreographed and performed with Santa Barbara Dance Alliance, performed for the Los Angeles company Winifred Harris Between The Lines in 2001, as well as the Los Angeles Music Awards in 2000. She is certified with Body Arts Science and teaches Pilates.

Our company class is a unique blend of modern dance, ballet, pilates, yoga, release technique, improvisation, capoeria, upside down work, tumbling, and our own inventions! The SonneBlauma signature style is to let go and let the process. To be sensitive enough to know in the moment what is needed to take us all to the next level. We work with an extensive vocabulary of educational movement components and treat the unfolding of the class as a sound, safe, fun, and accessible structured improvisation. No two classes are exactly alike keeping the process fresh and light, and…we usually bring snacks for all to enjoy.
